Q. I`ve been to university before, but I didn`t graduate. Can I count the credits I earned the first time in my RBA? A.Yes, you may be able to count the credits you`ve already earned for your RBA degree, even if you`ve been out of school a long time ago. Talk to your admissions counselor and an RBA counselor to see if your previous college experience (from regionally accredited colleges or universities) can count. Further information can be found at the end of the ADACADEMICS section of this FAQ Q. How long does it take? A. The RBA program is really designed to fit your schedule. You can work at your own pace to complete your studies. A Bachelor of Arts is eligible for the B.A. designation for a Regular Degree/Passport and B.A. (Hons) for an Honours Bachelor`s degree.
Students who have a B.A. sometimes refer to “(Hon)” or “(Hons)” after the abbreviation of the diploma in parentheses. An honours bachelor`s degree is always awarded in one of four classes, based on scores in final exams and exams. The top students receive a top-notch degree, followed by a higher-grade second-year degree (usually referred to as 2:1), a lower-class second-class degree (usually referred to as 2:2), and those with the lowest grades receive a third-year degree. An ordinary or unclassified degree (which does not entitle the graduate to add “(Hons)”) may be awarded if a student has completed the full honours programme, but has not obtained sufficient required passports to obtain a third honours degree. Generally, these degrees do not require the final year of a thesis. The required credit hours can be met with all Fairmont State courses. But we also have a selection of online courses that are only available to RBA students.
These 3-hour courses all have the RBAS prefix, are listed under Regent`s Bachelor of Arts on the calendar, and are every 8 weeks, online, asynchronous, and provide a convenient way to meet completion requirements through an online portal that provides access to courses taught throughout the state. The mission of the RBA program is to give adult learners the opportunity to achieve their academic and professional goals and aspirations through a first bachelor`s degree. This is achieved by providing quality education, services and resources to promote student learning and academic success. WVROCKS/RBAS courses are an option for RBA students and not a requirement. Instead, students can choose to take Fairmont State courses — virtually or in a classroom — to meet RBA degree requirements. There are huge benefits to shutting down the RBA. Some of these benefits include: The Regents Bachelor of Arts (RBA) program at WVU Tech is designed for working adults who want to complete college and pursue a better career with a bachelor`s degree. Our affordable and flexible program offers the opportunity to earn credits to learn about work and life, allowing students to tailor their degree programs to their individual needs. Q. Can I complete the Regents Bachelor of Arts without taking classes on the Marshall University campus? Marshall University offers college courses online and in remote locations in the state of West Virginia. Completing the requirements of the RBA program without coming to campus is possible depending on where you live and/or the number of credits you earned before starting the RBA program. Only a few focal points are possible online.
Q. Can my work experience count towards graduation? One of the great benefits of the RBA program is that the knowledge gained through your work and life experience can count towards academic credit. If you would like to credit your work experience, ask your RBA advisor about the portfolio submission process or read the PORTFOLIO section of this FAQ. The RBA program assumes that adults have different needs and goals than traditional students. Therefore, our degree requirements are tailored to the specific needs of adult learners. The RBA degree is designed to provide adult learners with liberal art or a more comprehensive education when combined with our areas of interest and minors. In addition, there is a great deal of flexibility in how, when and where the conditions for completion are met. Specifically, students can earn credits through on-campus and online courses (at WVU or Transfer), credits through exams, standardized rewards, and/or writing portfolios to apply for eligible courses based on their work experience or a combination of both.
